What is round-up giving?

Round-up giving means rounding a purchase up to the next euro and donating the difference to a charity. With Kallpa Pay, this tiny donation happens automatically on every card payment: a €4.63 purchase adds €0.37 to your donation pool, which goes to the charities you choose each month.

How it works, step by step

  1. 1

    Choose your plan

With Standard, you securely synchronize your main bank account through Powens and keep using your usual card. Premium adds an account with a French IBAN and a virtual Kallpa Pay Mastercard.

  2. 2

Enable round-ups to the next euro

Each card payment, in store or online, is rounded up to the next euro. The difference is added to your donation pool without any repeated action after purchases.

  3. 3

    Set a monthly limit

Choose a maximum that fits your budget and, if you wish, a minimum above the default €2. These settings apply immediately and can be changed at any time. Once the limit is reached, new payments no longer generate round-ups until the following month.

  4. 4

    Build your charity Mix

Choose the charities you want to support. On the last day of the month, your donation pool is shared among the organisations in your Mix.

Everyday giving

Small donations with every payment, without thinking about it

An ice cream, fruit from the market or an online purchase can all contribute to your donation pool. Each amount is small, but they gradually add up throughout the month.

Automation means you do not need to think about donating after every expense. It does not remove your control: your chosen monthly limit remains the maximum.

Example

For a €12.60 payment, the round-up is €0.40. With 40 card payments in a month and an average round-up of €0.50, your donation pool reaches €20.

Compare

Checkout round-ups, monthly donations or card round-ups: what is the difference?

Card round-ups do not replace other forms of giving; they add an accessible way to include generosity in existing habits.

  • Checkout round-ups

Offered occasionally by some retailers at the till. The merchant chooses the charity and each donation depends on a single visit.

  • Monthly direct debit donations

A fixed amount given to one charity each month. Easy to plan, but the amount does not follow your habits and each charity requires a separate commitment.

  • Kallpa Pay automatic round-ups

Every card payment is rounded up, in store and online. You choose the charities, split your donation pool across several causes and set a monthly limit.

Tangible causes

You choose the charities, not an algorithm.

Your Mix reflects the causes that matter to you. Charities you can choose in Kallpa Pay cover equality, children, solidarity, health, biodiversity, and education.

For charities

A regular source of funding from the general public

Round-up giving lets a charity receive many small donations from individuals, paid every month. Each amount is modest; combined across a community of donors, they become a recurring resource that is easier to plan around when running programmes and supporting beneficiaries.

Donors discover the charity in the app, see the amounts raised and the number of donors, and can keep it in their Mix over time. Donations are transferred on the last day of the month, minus collection fees.

Frequently asked questions about round-up giving

Is there a bank card that donates automatically with every payment?

Yes. With Kallpa Pay, every card payment is rounded up to the next euro and the difference goes to the charities you choose. Standard works with your usual bank card by synchronizing your account; Premium includes a virtual Kallpa Pay Mastercard that works with Apple Pay and Google Pay.

What is a solidarity payment card?

It is a card that links your everyday spending to supporting charities. With Kallpa Pay, each purchase is rounded up to the next euro and the resulting donation pool is distributed each month to the charities in your Mix.

How does rounding up to the next euro help charities?

For each payment, Kallpa Pay calculates the difference to the next euro: a €12.60 purchase generates a €0.40 round-up. Round-ups add up in your donation pool, which is shared among your charities on the last day of the month.

Can I choose which charities receive my donations?

Yes. You build your Mix in the app and can support several charities at once. Changes apply to the following month’s Mix.

How much do round-ups add up to each month?

It depends on how many payments you make and their amounts. For example, 40 card payments with an average round-up of €0.50 add up to €20 a month. A minimum of €2 in donations per month applies, which you can raise if you wish, and your monthly limit ensures you never exceed your chosen budget.

Does Kallpa Pay debit money after every purchase?

No. Round-ups calculated from your payments build your donation pool. The total is distributed to the charities in your Mix on the last day of the month, within your configured limit. If your round-ups do not reach your monthly minimum, the minimum amount is charged at the end of the month.

Can I limit how much I donate?

Yes. You set a monthly limit, which you can change at any time with immediate effect. Once it is reached, round-ups stop until the following month.

Do I need to change banks to use Kallpa Pay?

No with Standard: synchronize your main bank account and keep using your usual card. Premium additionally provides a Kallpa Pay account and card.

Do round-up donations come with tax receipts?

Tax receipts for eligible donations are centralised in the “Account” tab of the app. In France, donations to public-interest organisations generally qualify for a 66% income tax reduction, up to 20% of taxable income, depending on the charity’s status.

How can a charity receive donations through Kallpa Pay?

Kallpa Pay selects its partner charities for transparency, reliability and the impact of their work. A charity that would like to be offered to users can contact the team at info@kallpapay.com.
